Are Notary Public's responsible if something on a document is incorrect?

No, a notary is not responsible for the information contained on/in a document. The Notary Public's responsibility is to verify and ensure the person whose name is on the document is the actual signer of the document. But, if something does not look right about the document i.e smeared ink, white out etc, the Notaaary Public can ask for a clearer copy or they can refuse the job alltogerther
